At Cartmel, your welfare is an important priority to us. In fact, we have four dedicated welfare officers, working under the remit of either Education and Welfare or Equal Opportunities to ensure that your life in Cartmel is a pleasant one.

All of our welfare officers hold regular office hours, whereby students are welcome to pop into the office for a confidential talk. The roles of our two welfare officers is explained below.

Welfare issuesCartmel’s Education and Welfare officers are responsible for your general well-being whilst you are at Lancaster University. They are the first port of call for any welfare or academic issues that you have and they work in strict confidentiality. They are also a link to LUSU. If you need any help they usually know who to go to and if they don’t then they probably know who to ask to find out.

They hold weekly office hours which are open drop in sessions for any advice you may need or maybe just a couple of condoms. They are friendly and are there to listen to any worries that you may have regarding your course, your sexual health, home sickness or anything else that you may have on your mind.

The Female Education and Welfare Officer is also joint Cartmel’s women’s officer with the Female Equal Opps officer. If you have any female issues that you have feel free to contact her.

Our two Equal Opportunities officers work to ensure that every possible minority group, sexuality, disability and religion is catered for around Cartmel and the University. Their work also involves meeting with international students to help them feel integrated within the college.

As with our Education and Welfare officers, the Equal Opportunities office hours are an excellent opportunity for any student to ask questions or report problems confidentially. Our attendance at weekly meetings for:
