Hullo everyone! I’m Dom Stroud, one half of the new magazine editorial team.
After weeks and weeks worth of planning, designing, meetings, photo-taking, writing, and a last-minute crunch that gave me no other choice but to use a LOLcat image, your first brand-spanking new issue of The Griffin is here.
And, if I do say so myself, what an issue it is. We’re bringing you exclusive news on Extrav, the only Horoscopes you can believe in, more Polaroid pictures than you can shake a stick at, a handy pull-out social calendar, and so much more.
If you disagree about my quality proclamations, don’t be afraid to send your feedback to me or Lod, or, on the other hand, if you’d like to join the team and write something for us, just drop us a line. We’ll also be on the lookout for more photos for next issue’s Pictures pages, so if you’d like to e-mail your favourite snaps of recent times, we’ll be more than happy to put them in.
So, 700 sheets, 1,400 prints, and a truckload of ink later – here you are. Enjoy.
We’re off to start issue 2.

Hi Cartmel! I’m your other new magazine editor Amy Loddington (but you probably know me as Lod).
Firstly can I say thank you for voting so that I got the chance to work on The Griffin this year – I won’t let you down, promise! If I do, please tell me and I will buy you a fortune cookie from Central. They’re amazing. They really can see the future…
Okay…
Not really.
I’ll be working with Dom this year to make sure The Griffin is just as full of exciting things as it was before – keep an eye out for what’s going on in our beloved Cartmel, plus all about the socials and embarrassing photos. Beware of my camera if you see me out and about! Hehehe…
There’s also a few new things you won’t have seen before, such as Lod Discovers (page 13) where Dom makes me watch films I don’t like, and many more similar ideas to come.
I’ll stop writing now – enjoy our first issue and see you next time!
Amy Loddington – Editor
