How many football teams are there in Cartmel?

We have 3 teams in Cartmel, A team, B team and C team but depending on numbers we can have 2 C teams and were looking to create 5-a-side teams as well!

How often are matches?

Matches are played regularly with the league fixtures for As been most Wednesdays and the Bs and Cs playing over the weekend. 5-a-side would also be weekends. All teams play in cup competitions as well, and there are loads of friendlies – so the chances to play are endless.

How often is training?

We train on the astro once a week but this is going to increase to one fitness (I know you think its rubbish but it will be worth it!) and maybe another session! it all depends on how committed people can be!

How competitive is college football?

College football is simply banter central! Rivalries are created and the spirit is unbelievable. The competitiveness makes it so much more than just a knock around! In mine and Ollys eyes, as well as the rest of the current lads, every tackle counts! The standard is great aswell and the football teams are often known by most people!

Are Cartmel good at football? Where did the teams finish in their leagues last year?

Cartmel have great potential to be a football force on campus. The A teams performed great in the cup last season conceding only 1 goal from open play. The B team had a superb year last year finishing third while only losing a minimal amount of games. As well as this, the Cs reached the semi finals of both cups only to be defeated on penalties by a very strong (and cheating may we add!) Fylde team. On top of all this Cartmel As, Bs and Cs dominated in the patriots cup against Furness which helped Cartmel to an overall win!

How can Cartmel improve on last years results?

To become better, we simply need more commitment and more of a will to win. Players already here and new people joining will no doubt provide the quality all 3 teams need to progress. However, college football is not just about quality, its about togetherness and a team spirit that will help grind out results against very resilient teams. I’m sure, together, we can all make us a force on campus that other college teams will not fancy coming up against!

How long through the Uni year is football played?

College football is played all year at Lancaster. We train every week and the teams often go for kick abouts together due to the great spirit they often create. In the Michaelmas and Lent terms, the leagues and inter college cups are played. In Summer term, the summer cups arrive which is a full day of non-stop football and is a great laugh. Any football fan out there would love the football at uni so all we have to say is get involved!
