Hey Guys! I hope you’ve all enjoyed this week so far – I must confess the majority of events for this have already taken place, but I wanted to fill you guys all in for what is coming up soon. And especially provide a little bit of guidance for those who are looking to become a member of the JCR Exec this year!
Tonight was the General Meeting, in which everything from constitution changes and officer removals were discussed. In addition, each member of the JCR Exec discussed a little bit about their roles and what they involve! I must apologise for my rubbish performance I was a little distracted by the preceding discussion!
For those guys interested in becoming a member of the JCR Exec, here is a quick set of guidelines I’d recommend you follow (there is also a full on detailed guide about running!): Firstly, Research! Make sure you learn about the position, so checkout the JCR Exec profile pages and learn about the roles and what they require. Some are more intensive than others, some have weekly meetings to attend, some have work loads peeking a different times of the year. So do you research. Get in contact with the existing members of the JCR Exec, no one can give you advise better then those guys
Nominations for JCR Exec positions will be opening next Monday (the 10th of November) and closing very soon afterwards. You’ll need to get a nominator and a seconder to confirm your nomination. Once nominations have closed the campaigning begins and hustings will follow soon afterwards. For more information on these events and the general process itself don’t forget to checkout the JCR Exec Elections page; and of course if you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to get on the blower to us.
Now! Back to this week and our College events! We have on Sunday the inter-college sporting competition The Carter Shield which is back for its first competitive event of the year – Dodgeball! Come and take part meeting at 12:15pm in the JCR, the better we do, the higher we finish, and the more points we collect for Cartmel College in the league tables – which is always always good!
Later on in Sunday afternoon is the ever reliable Sunday Quiz; starting at 8pm in the Cartmel Bar, you’ll have the chance to take up a rather snazzy cash prize for your intellectual prowess. Come down in teams with just £1 each to play – Oh, and don’t forget your pens guys
