The biggest day of term so far!!!!!!!! Tuition fees protest! Meet at 8.30am in the JCR.
How many of you have ever complained about how much you pay to go to uni, or how much debt you are in????? If you have, imagine how much worse it will be for students if the government raises tuition fees! The government is considering raising tuition fees by so much that graduates will need to earn £25,000 a year just to pay off the interest on their loan! If this happens we will face a situation where only the rich can afford to go to uni. You might not think a rise in tuitionfees will affect you because it won’t come into place until well after you leave uni, but just think about it for a while. In 10 years time your doctor may no longer be somebody who is doing what they do because they are good at their job, it may well affect you then…..
Do something about it, don’t leave it to everyone else!
Sunday
The QUIZ!!!!! £1 to play. In the bar from 8pm. Bar food on sale.
No Carter Shield this week.
———————————————–
Over the past few weeks there has been uproar about the amount we have been charged
for “repairs” to our flats over Christmas! Torri from LUSU is investigating this,
but needs to know what we have been charged for and how much. So if you feel like
you have been ripped off please email either Neil (neil@cartmelcollege.co.uk) or
Rhian (rhian@cartmelcollege.co.uk)
There is also a campaign going on to improve Tutor/Tutee relationships. If you have
any ideas on how to do this please email either Holly (holly@cartmelcollege.co.uk)
or Tom (tom.k@cartmelcollege.co.uk)
Are you an organised girl? Would you happily watch some nice male bums in tight
shorts on a Sunday afternoon? Do you think Alex Hockin is a great guy? (who
doesn’t?)……… well we might have just the thing for you……. Cartmel is
looking for a female sports rep! The beauty of it is, you don’t even need to be
that sporty, you just need to organise the sports and enjoy cheering the players on!
If you are having any academic or welfare issues, please come and see your Ed and
Welfare officers in their office hours.
Education and Welfare Office Hours (JCR office)
Tom – Friday 10.30-11.30
Holly – Monday 1.30-2.30
The university is a multicultural place, and we aim to include everybody in our
university and particularly the college. If you are experiencing any problems
relating to equality and diversity please see your EDE officers. Similarly come and
see them if you are facing any issues relating to the environment in which you are
living or the environment of the university in general.
Equality, Diversity and Environment office Hours (JCR office)
Neil – Tuesday 12.30-1.30
Rhian – Wednesday 10.30-11.30
If you’d like to make a music request for one of the socials, you can post a
discussion topic on Cartmel’s Facebook group and our lovely A-V Tech will pick it up
to play for you. Alternatively, you can make a text request to 07949 067617, or pop
your choice into the box at the bar.
