Latest news: Lent week #8

It’s time for the Patriot’s Cup! A brand new and exciting sporting and social event between Cartmel and Furness! And it’s your chance to make history by being among the first to participate!

The Patriots Cup takes place on Saturday of this week (7th March). Sign up sheets for the different events can be found in the JCR. The line-up for the day looks like this:

  • 11am-1pm: Football/Rounders
  • 1pm-4pm: Dodgeball/Volleyball/Basketball/Table Tennis
  • 4pm-5pm: Netball
  • 6pm-8pm: bar sports and BBQ in Furness Bar
  • 8pm-10pm: bar sports and Wii games in Cartmel Bar
  • 10pm onwards: Free buses to Sugarhouse

But that’s not everything that we’ve got planned for the week…

Union Hustings are on Monday, a chance for the Sabbatical candidates to try and explain to students why they deserve their vote. They’ll also be taking questions relating to the position. Hustings start at 7pm in the Minor Hall.

On Wednesday is this week’s social – Ambiguous Fancy Dress! Come dressed as whatever you want for this off-campus bar-crawl. We’ll be visiting Hustle, Varsity and then finally Walkabout. Meet at 8pm in Cartmel Bar.

Thursday is Election Day across campus. This is the opportunity to have your say in how your union is run. For more information, you can visit the LUSU Democracy website. You can vote in the Porters Lodge from 8am-6pm, and in the LUSU building from 6pm-8pm.

And of course we’ll be rounding off the week with the Sunday Night Quiz, starting in Cartmel Bar from 8pm.

Have a good week!

-Tom
